What does it cost to cremate a dog
The cost of cremating a dog depends primarily on three things. The cremation form you choose, the weight of your dog, and any extras such as transportation, a surcharge for pick-up or a paw print as a reminder. At HCWeesp, you can choose from collective cremation, individual cremation and individual cremation extended. In this blog you can read how the prices are structured and what you can take into account, so that you have clarity at a quiet moment.
What choices determine the price
The first choice is whether you want the cremation to be collective or individual. With collective cremation, your dog is cremated with other animals and there is no return of ashes. With individual cremation, the cremation takes place separately and you can get the ashes back. The second choice is whether you choose the extended individual cremation. Then there is extra space for saying goodbye in one of the cozy rooms and your dog will be laid up free of charge. Finally, the weight in pounds determines what price range you fall into. Therefore, HCWeesp works with fixed rates per weight category.
Collective cremation. The most economical choice
Collective cremation is appropriate if you want a respectful cremation, but do not need an ash return. The price includes VAT and is determined by weight.
Examples. At 0 to 1 kg, the price is € 100.00. At 1 to 3 kg it is € 130.00. For 3 to 6 kg you pay € 155.00 and for 6 to 10 kg € 175.00. For 10 to 15 kg it is € 185.00. For 15 to 20 kg it is € 205.00. For 20 to 25 kg it is € 215.00 and for 25 to 30 kg it is € 235.00. These are the cremation costs themselves. Transportation and any surcharges will be added separately, if you choose.
Individual cremation. Ashes return included
If you want to receive your dog's ashes back, then individual cremation fits better. At HCWeesp, this is a traditional fire cremation. The price includes VAT and includes ash canister or scatter jar. The rate is determined by weight.
Examples. At 10 to 15 kg, the price is €265.00. At 15 to 20 kg it is € 295.00. At 20 to 25 kg it is € 305.00 and at 25 to 30 kg it is € 325.00. Heavier weight classes continue. At 40 to 45 kg it is € 370.00, at 50 to 55 kg € 420.00 and at 70 kg or more € 510.00. This helps especially with dogs to get a realistic range in advance.
Individual cremation extended. Additional farewell in an atmospheric room
With individual cremation extended, you can say an additional goodbye in one of the cozy rooms, after which the cremation takes place. Your dog will be laid up free of charge. The cremation is individual, ashes return is included, and the price includes VAT and includes ash canister or scatter jar.
Examples. At 10 to 15 kg the price is € 450.00. At 15 to 20 kg it is € 470.00. At 20 to 25 kg it is € 480.00 and at 25 to 30 kg it is € 500.00. After that it increases further. At 40 to 45 kg it is € 550.00. At 50 to 55 kg it is € 610.00. At 70 kg or more it is €690.00.
Transportation. Pick up at veterinarian's office or at your home
In addition to cremation costs, transportation may play a role. HCWeesp can collect from your veterinarian within 20 km for € 39,00. Collection at your home within 20 km costs € 50.00. If you live further away than 20 km, there is an additional driven kilometer charge of € 0.89 per km. These transportation costs are the same for collective cremation and for individual cremation forms.
Surcharges. Evening and Saturday
If you want your dog to be picked up at your home after 6 p.m. or on Saturdays, there is a surcharge of €75.00. On Sundays and holidays, please contact the animal ambulance in your area.
Saying goodbye again after home pickup
If HCWeesp has collected your dog from your home and you want to say goodbye again later, there is an additional cost of €30.00. These costs do not apply to individual cremation extended.
Ash return. Collection, through the veterinarian or home delivery
With individual cremation and individual cremation extended, you can get the ashes back. You can pick up the ashes yourself at the crematorium between 10:00 and 17:00. You can also have them taken to your veterinarian at no extra cost, or sent to your home address for €15.00. Both taking it to the veterinarian and sending it is possible after payment of the invoice. With collective cremation there is no return of ashes.
Paw print as a tangible reminder
Many people like to keep a tangible reminder in addition to the ashes. At HCWeesp, you can choose from three options. A paw print in clay costs €19.95. A paw print on paper costs €12.50. A framed paw print costs €17.50.
Calculation examples. You often pay this in practice
To make the question what does it cost to cremate a dog as concrete as possible, math examples help. Suppose your dog weighs 12 kg. With collective cremation, that falls into 10 to 15 kg and the cremation costs € 185.00. If you choose individual cremation, it will be €265.00 including ash canister or scattering tube. If you want individual cremation extended, it is € 450.00 including ash canister or scattering tube and with additional farewell in an atmospheric room.
There is an additional cost only if you choose transportation or extras. For example, if you order pick-up from the vet within 20 km, there will be an additional €39.00. If you want a paw print in clay, there will be an additional €19.95. If you prefer to receive the ashes at home, charge €15.00 for shipping. And if you need home pickup after 6 p.m. or on Saturday, there is an additional €75.00 surcharge.
In conclusion. Peace of mind, clarity and a choice that suits you
There is no right or wrong choice. Some people find collective cremation appropriate, others place great value on ashes return or additional farewells. The important thing is to make a choice that feels right for you and your dog. If you want, you can easily approximate the cost by first taking the rate for the appropriate weight class and then determining if you want to add transportation, surcharges or additional reminders such as a paw print.
